While reading up on teacher job postings in the state, Mrs. Tolentino came across a CTE position being offered at Moanalua Middle using Adruino kits and a 3D printer. She thought it would be a good addition to Media. There are a number of teachers at our school who've successfully been funded through DonorsChoose.org, so she thought she'd give it a try. Not more than 2 weeks later, she got an email saying the project was fully funded! What an amazing surprise. Determination is now needed to prepare all she can for quality instruction on these kits. She will definitely keep the blog updated with how the learning is going!
We're excited to hopefully merge 8th grade art and media to form a growing "Royales Productions" company. Mrs. Smith, the 8th grade art teacher loves the idea of Royales Productions and is willing to support the graphic design aspect of Ilima's digital productions. Mrs. Tolentino will continue building her video production curriculum while Mrs. Smith builds her graphic arts & hands on crafts. We hope to bring the school on board with giving students "real world" production experience that can help build our school image/brand while potentially growing arts programs through funds and learning experiences.
Our students were nervous, but pulled through! It was a wonderful event put on by Mr. Toyota at Ewa Makai Middle School. We were happy to have 6 of our students in attendance that night presenting their videos to the crowd of family and friends supporting students from Ewa Makai, Campbell HS, & Kapolei HS. We represented with about 7 of our own student produced videos themed "Ilima Student Experiences". There was a lot of talent showcased that night by all the schools. Students got to see friends from around the complex and especially got to see what kind of things they could do when they go to Campbell HS. Mrs. Tolentino was very proud of how the Ilima students held themselves and shared what we are doing on campus. Good job Ilima Valerie Brown, Valerie Pena, Qyle Tabladillo, Jasper Baliba, & Tyson Akiona! We are looking forward to representing Ilima every year and growing from the great talent around in Ewa Beach! |
